A mid-century modern vintage table lamp or desk lamp by Italian designer Oscar Torlasco for the prestigious Italian lighting manufacturer Lumi. This tall rare statement piece is composed of a shade in elegant red and a structure of both lacquered steel and brass on the bottom featuring a well-balanced combination of colors and materials. The oval form of the shade and the round base add an aesthetic sense of symmetry to this table lamp. Italy. Circa 1954. About the designer Oscar Torlasco is a notable Italian mid-century designer with a special interest in lighting, which included wall lights, floor lamps and chandeliers. He often experimented with industrial chrome steel, then combined it with more luxurious materials such as marble, crystal and brass.
